#37-Raise your hand if you have experienced this? You just finished a tough and hectic shift, and your mind is still buzzing from the day. Or you notice that the body is tense and has a vibration about it. Now ask yourself, why can't I stop this racing mind and relax my tense body? Whether you are a physician, nurse, or paramedic, we all have experienced this scenario. As an emergency physician, I routinely hear the alarms of the telemetry monitor or the ventilator even outside of the department. Even after my shift, I can still feel my muscles tense and a vibration in my body from all the catecholamines still circulating in my bloodstream. I bet many of you are nodding your head in agreement. What I have learned as I continue on my journey toward wellness is you have to calm the buzzing mind and relax the tense body if you truly want to learn, grow, and thrive in medicine. This may seem like an insurmountable mountain, but with a few intentional acts, you can achieve the success that you are so desperately seeking. Learn How on this week's podcast!
