After completing her degree at Sam Houston State University she moved back home to District F. She served her neighbors in the District and the greater Houston area in a variety of ways over the years through volunteering and leading organizations that allowed her to sharpen her knowledge on issues that mattered such as housing, public safety, workforce development, transportation, and education. In 2013, she tested her capacity to lead and ran for Alief ISD Trustee, position 7 and won, serving for four years with the best interests of the taxpayer, student, parent and business in mind. In addition to her service on Council, she is a tenured development officer and is also the Program Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Community Development at Prairie View A&M University.
