The Richest on Earth Podcast #6  *The podcast about ways and means to find and unleash your true happiness, finding your true north to make sure you wake up happy, everyday!! In this episode, I interview Maarten Hemmes, a foreigner( Dutch) in a another land( Singapore) who not only runs a Venture Capitalist firm with his wife Joanne, he also has a law degree, 3 successful startups and advises and invests in other high potential startups such as Oddle and WhyQ in Singapore! From being one who did not see purpose in school, to the boy who said law school was his priority in life, he has set his mind on many things and achieved with failures as well, many positive outcomes. From an online automated legal platform, to a web application engineering house to finally his VC and same-day delivery platform, he has bootstrapped and stressed out more than we ever imagined. Most entrepreneurs find a job ( seeking conformity) the moment they see failure (seeking abnormality), because being different is not for everyone. Maarten has done this numeral times, including moving to Taiwan to know his in laws better and to have a better relationship with his wife without the ability to speak Mandarin and being away from the expat community where he would seek comfort.  From the day I reached out to him, he has been one awesome person, as though he has more than enough to retire and in this lifetime, he never feared he would be sold or cheated by someone else because he is so confident in his awareness. Always a highly positive and happy person, he believes happiness, gratefulness and seeking what you really want instead of what you need, will eventually make you happy! From the day his Grandfather, a successful uneducated entrepreneur asked if he was going to clean the floor for the rest of his life at the family business to the man who gave up a law career 9 months into the job because he wanted to be the guy who was consulted(client) and not the one consulting(lawyer), he has one heck of a life! He does not seem to stop and looks to grow his business through solving bigger last mile delivery problems and also to invest and aid 100 start ups in the next 10 years. Entrepreneurship is in this man's blood and he never once told me that his back up plan was to find a job, because he never wants a job ever. One of the most inspiring mental toughness I have ever seen and one person whom I believe that if you took everything away from him, he would still be better than 90% of the population.  ** Special Content: I asked him what if I took everything material and his business away from him, leaving him only with his family, what would he do?** Maarten: I would move to another country where I can live on lower expenses immediately, setup a website selling items and use the internet to make a living. He would also do freelance work as a lawyer but would focus mostly on using the internet as a source of income. Finding a job might seem like instant gratification( instant money in the bank, after X days of service) but there is no such thing as instant gratification in this world. https://www.carpal.me/ POWER YOUR SAME-DAY DELIVERIES TODAY We are transforming the way local goods move around in cities by offering any consumer, small business owner or corporate our on-demand solution, allowing them to reduce costs and increase their delivery flexibility. http://petmate.me/ Launched in October 2015, PetMate’s revolutionary urban logistics & on-demand transport platform connects you with local drivers who help to transport your beloved pets. https://www.linkedin.com/in/maartenhemmes/ Find Jeremy at : Website: www.atasia.sg Email: Jeremy@atasia.sg Instagram: atasiasg
