At the start of this sermon series we talked about how the main metaphor the writers of the New Testament use to describe the Church is that of a body. This means that Church is not something you do, or something you attend, it is something you belong to. That the proper way of engaging in the Church is not as an external entity or as an event, but as a collective that you become a part of. A lot of the unhealthy or dysfunctional ways we engage with church are a result of making church into something other than what it is supposed to be.
