Having Phil Maffetone on the show is huge a honour. Phil has shaped so many of my personal athletic pursuits and success when it comes to recovering from burnout, overtraining and endless niggles. Further to that, his work and research has shaped who I am as a coach and how I deliver programs to my athletes. He has done that through his 20+ books, podcast interviews and online content that has been developed over the past two decades. Phil is a clinician, Coach, and innovator. He was a pioneer in the 1970’s warning against high sugar and carbohydrate diets, while everyone else was focused on steering away from fats. He has worked with a vast array of professional and age group athletes, most notably to this audience would be 6 time Ironman Hawaii World Champion Mark Allen and more recently Ironman World Champion Pete Jacobs. As is my aim of this podcast, I wanted to discuss key topics with Phil that are less talked about. On todays podcast we cover what is MAF training, stumbling blocks, longevity in sport and the importance of MAF for wellness and happy hormones. Key topics: -What is MAF -Impact of MAF approach on hormones -Longevity in endurance sport -Self monitoring and being intuitive -Mechanics of overtraining
