Have you ever looked at the statistics? According to 2003 National Assessment of Adult Health Literacy, only 12% of the population has proficient health literacy. Health literacy is defined as "the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions." In this episode, we chat with Margaret Danilovich, PT, PhD, GCS, and author of the op-ed in the Huffington Post “Trump’s HIV/HPV Blunder Reveals a Fundamental Healthcare Problem”. The article was also picked up by CNN (you can find it here). How do you know if your patient has low health literacy? What do you do? How does it affect your treatment?
