To kick off season two of Cooking in Khirys Kitchen, I thought today; Juneteenth would be a perfect day to have a premiere. On today’s show, we will be making a Juneteenth feast, BBQ ribs, potato salad, and a Juneteenth Red spritzer. Juneteenth is an annual American holiday that occurs on June 19. It commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger read federal orders in Galveston, TX, that all previously enslaved people in TX were free. Which at the time was estimated to be 250,000 enslaved people. #Blacklivesmatter #Blacktranslivesmatter Let's pull up for each other so we can build respect and development communication. When we communicate, that's when change happens. Exclusive Winc Deal for foodies like you: winc.mivh.net/KPcooks ½ pint of frozen raspberries ½ pint of frozen sliced strawberries 1 bottle 750 ML of red wine, or if you want to make this a virgin drink, Cranberry juice 1-quart sparkling water or seltzer, I’m using ginger-infused sparkling water. Fill the bottom of two large wine glasses with frozen raspberries and strawberries. Pour in the wine to cover and let stand for about 10 minutes. Top the glasses with seltzer when you are ready to serve. Garnish with a slice of strawberry, and there you have it! A Juneteenth Red Wine Spritzer. I hope you enjoy this drink as much as I do, but I hope when you drink we reflect on how far we have come as a human race and how much more work we need to do. Police brutality must stop and we all have to do our parts to lift each other up. I don't want George Floyd’s. Breonna Taylor, ahmaud arbery, Rayshard Brooks, and the many other brothers and sisters who have lost their lives to be in vain. Let's pull up for each other and respect each other. When we do that, communication can happen, and when we communicate we can create change.
