In this edition of Solutions News Rinaldo Brutoco interviews the mother of impact investing, Hazel Henderson about what the world might look like in a new economy that measures success by putting love at the center of how we measure economic viability. It’s all about getting beyond GDP as the only metric of success. Our guest Hazel Henderson is the founder of Ethical Markets Media, LLC and the creator and co-executive Producer of its TV series. She is a world-renowned futurist, evolutionary economist, a worldwide syndicated columnist, consultant on sustainable development, and author of The Axiom and Nautilus award-winning book Ethical Markets: Growing the Green Economy (2006) along with eight other books. She co-edited, with Harlan Cleveland and Inge Kaul, The UN: Policy and Financing Alternatives, Elsevier Scientific, UK 1995 (US edition, 1996). Recognized as one of the founders of whole systems thinking as applied to economics. Her articulation of the “Love Economy” - which we will explore on today’s show - laid much of the groundwork for updated economic models that include human well-being and environmental sustainability metrics in how we measure success.
