The retirement of a local butcher has spurred a group based in Alameda to create a butchery co-op. Much of the long-time butcher's operation was grandfathered, so there was no option for someone to simply continue running his business. Agronomist Trent Dorrance says people in the area still need to have their animals slaughtered and butchered, and with bookings already being made more than a year in advance he's working to create a butchery cooperative in southeastern Saskatchewan. Dorrance joins Brad and John to tell us more about the South East Butcher Block Cooperative, which he hopes will be up and running in 2022.
