Go: From Naples to the Nations Matthew 28:16-20   Matthew 28 is the resurrection story of Jesus that ends with the Risen Savior commissioning his disciples. Everything Jesus says here depends on the fact He is very much alive. A dead teacher cannot send his disciples. Jesus’ Resurrection is the proof he has all authority and therefore transforms all our priorities. If Jesus died and rose from the dead, then everything He tells us WE SHOULD DO and WE CAN DO! We must not let the distractions of life keep us from the convictions that sustain us for the mission that Jesus has called us to do.   To glorify God by making disciples of Jesus of all people.   We must not let the distractions of life keep us from the convictions that sustain us for the mission that Jesus has called us to do.   I. The Distractions that Stop Us (VS. 16-17)   - What is a Disciple? Someone who follows Jesus in faith and lifestyle and helps others do the same - Building an audience is not the same thing as making disciples.   II. The Convictions that Sustain Us   - God Wants to Use Me - God has Empowered Me: ---Luke 24:49 ---Acts 1:8 ---John 15:5 ---Zechariah 4:6 Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts. -God is With Me (VS. 20b)   Matthew 28:16-20 ESV 16Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them inthe name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”   Luke 24:49 ESV 49And behold, I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”   Acts 1:8 ESV 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”   John 15:5 ESV 5I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.   Zechariah 4:6 ESV 6Then he said to me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
