M(elanie) Camellia is a fat, queer, non-binary yoga teacher and accessibility advocate who creates inclusive spaces for self-inquiry by integrating spiritual teachings and accessible, trauma-informed practices with the spirit of social justice. M believes the goal of yoga, as of life, is collective liberation, and challenges contemporary yoga practitioners to dismantle oppressive systems and beliefs within themselves and society at large. They’ve been called a “tour-de-force of encouraging radical self-love” and listed among the “top thinkers and activists in the field of body positivity.” We chat about owning and using our privilege, capitalism and yoga, body neutrality, and what it means to “find space” in yoga.
