George Romero completely changed the horror genre by releasing his independent film “Night of the Living Dead.” Zombies before this were depicted by voodoo and Haitian cultures, but Romero coined the infamous traits of the undead. That being zombies eat the flesh of the living, hoards of zombies banding together, and the human element of back stabbing and untrustworthy attitude that came with the survivors of this horror. It spawned countless other creations in movies and tv and definitively created a new genre of film.
