Night Falls: Sleepy Bedtime Stories

Fall Asleep To This Relaxing Sleep Story The Glassmakers Garden

Leisure

Fall asleep tonight with a peaceful autumn journey through Venice, where quiet canals shimmer beneath golden light, narrow streets wind between ancient buildings, and the gentle sound of water carries you deeper into rest. In this relaxing bedtime story, Professor James Sterling arrives in Venice with nothing on his agenda but a few quiet days away from work. Staying with his old friend Marco in the peaceful Dorsoduro district, James spends his first day wandering hidden streets, passing sleepy churches, eating in tiny trattorias and watching boats drift slowly along the canals. But on his second morning, his restful holiday takes an unexpected turn. At a restored palazzo on the island of Giudecca, gardeners have uncovered a collection of mysterious glass fragments buried beneath an overgrown garden. Deep cobalt blues, glowing ambers, vivid reds and crystal-clear pieces catch the autumn light, and James quickly realises they are far older — and far more remarkable — than anyone first imagined. Settle in as James begins to uncover the story behind the glass, moving gently between the quiet garden, Venice’s ancient archives and its peaceful churches. His research leads him to the forgotten workshop of Chiara, a remarkable fourteenth-century glassmaker whose name has almost disappeared from history. As more fragments are discovered, conservator Francesca slowly begins to piece them together, revealing that they once formed part of a beautiful stained-glass panel depicting the Venetian lagoon. Blues become water and sky, amber becomes autumn sunlight, and little by little, an artwork lost for centuries begins to take shape again. Designed to help you relax, unwind and fall asleep, this soothing sleep story is filled with tranquil Venetian canals, golden autumn light, historic palazzos, hidden gardens, quiet archive rooms, stained glass, gentle discoveries and slow journeys aboard the vaporetto. On James’s final day in Venice, one last discovery reveals where Chiara’s artwork may always have been intended to belong — overlooking the lagoon from the garden where she once worked. And although the beautiful glass will eventually be restored, James realises that the most important thing he has uncovered is something much simpler: the name of a forgotten artist, returned at last to history. Close your eyes, get cosy, and let the quiet canals, warm Venetian light and gentle lapping of the water carry you softly into deep rest. Sleep well and sweet dreams.
