Hello people! Welcome to the When In Yorkshire Podcast, I hope you’re well. This is episode 35 and features the delightful Chris DeMakes- guitarist and singer from ska punk hero’s Less Than Jake. This was great as it not only was Chris an excellent guest and fun to chat to but as I be previously spoken to Roger Lima, this fell in to my love of collecting things. So that's 2 members of Less Than Jake down and I’m looking forward to collecting the rest. This episode was recorded at the o2 academy in Leeds ahead of the fireball tour which also featured Save Ferris and had Matt Stocks DJing throughout- if you’re not aware of matts podcast check it out it’s called life in the stocks and I’ve loved every episode I’d listened to. There’s a link to his podcast here: https://play.acast.com/s/lifeinthestocks he has hundreds of episodes to pick from. Enjoy. If you’re not aware of the extensive back catalogue Less Than Jake have then you have many hours of music treats ahead of you - they’ve been around for a quite a while and influenced many ska, punk and ska punk band across the globe. You can start by pausing this episode and going back to the episode with Roger if you want. There is also the Spotify playlist you can find under wiypodcast ( https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5WguWZu1N8br97h97FOXXm?si=gUn0ebhwQHqtf0TtOSQjlg ) to get you started on your music adventure. As I mentioned in the episode with Roger, I’ve been listening to Less Than Jake for around 20 years and when I was first getting into playing music in bands, I’ve covered a few of their songs, poorly but with great enthusiasm! It was great to hear about how Chris got into music, how his tastes have changed, what it’s like touring and we also discuss Chris’ view on how to say spell fair do’s.
