IMF has requested Pakistan to share a draft of its under-preparation investment policy. Transparency in SIFC: The IMF emphasized the need for transparency in the operations of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), established in June last year to boost foreign direct investment (FDI). Pakistan has requested a fresh bailout package of USD 6-8 billion under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF), potentially augmented by climate finance. This would be Pakistan's 24th IMF bailout program. On the other hand Supreme Court of India has dismissed the petitions seeking review of its judgment upholding the abrogation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 of the Constitution. A 5-judge bench comprising Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justices Sanjiv Khanna, BR Gavai, Surya Kant and AS Bopanna dismissed the review petitions in chamber noting that there was no apparent error in the judgment delivered on December 11, 2023.
