Chapter Readings

Arts

This reading was designed by Voices On The Bridge, a poetry initiative in Pontypridd. The theme of the evening was trauma and healing. There is no one size fits all where trauma experience is concerned – Nor is there one pathway for healing there are many – out of necessity we each seek our own path. And healing takes time, time to heal in its own time – a clock that has its own rhythm - there is no one pathway from the darkness into the light!Writing and poetry can be a pathway into the light – the door opens and the light – the light is always there – tho’ finding it might take time! And finding the light might reveal something we didn’t want to find.A reading where poets share the pathways of darkness and light.“Every poet is an optimist… But on the way to that optimism, ‘you have to reach a certain level of despair to deal with your life at all.” - James Baldwin. The poets are clare e. Potter, Mike McNamara, Giles L. Turnbull, Nicholas McGaughey, Christina Thatcher, Rob Cullen, Amelia UnityThe event was recorded on May the 21st, 2019 at the Chapter Arts Centre in Cardiff.
