Many of us use the word ‘friend’ a little too easily. The ancient Stoic philosopher Seneca had a very different idea—one that feels surprisingly relevant even today.

In this solo episode, I explore Seneca’s Letters from a Stoic, specifically his writing on true and false friendship and how we must judge before, not after the fact. I also connect these ideas to one of the central themes of my novel The Other Sister...how critical it is to have real connection in a world where we are increasingly isolated.
