During the latest episode of The Black In Business Podcast, we have the pleasure of speaking with Mr. Wil Shelton who is the CEO and founder of Wil Power Integrated Marketing (www.wilpowerent.net). Started in 1996, WPIM is a full-service event activation agency that specializes in the beauty/barber industry. Mr. Shelton himself worked as a licensed cosmetologist where he noticed the impact his clients had on the success of music, movies, and television shows that were being played in his shop. With the idea of reaching out to the big companies, Mr. Shelton was able to work with and assist the companies in reaching out to the African-American community. Some of the projects his company has worked on are, Empire, Claws, Barber Shop 1 & 2, and The Best Man Holiday. In addition to talking about the services WPIM offers, we also discuss diversity and inclusion in the workforce and how it impacts black people as we try to climb the corporate latter. The numbers may (or may not) shock you when you here the percentage of black people who hold "C-Suite" roles in the most well-known corporations. What also may shock you is the name of those roles.
