Lindsay came to the studio with Cindy (Episode 216), right off the bat I was digging her energy, her straight forwardness, and her humor. She had an obligation and needed to leave before Cindy was done telling her story so I missed that chance to invite her to be a guest, that's easily corrected, and she eagerly agreed when I contacted her via text. Believe it or not, there is some anxiety involved in these invitations, probably the fear of rejection, which I'm certain nobody is immune from. Lindsay's story is amazing, she recently celebrated 12 years, mature sobriety such as her's, brings a perspective that is not available with many of my guests being fairly early in their journey. Just as with my initial impression, Lindsey's rigorous honesty, no nonsense delivery, and deep vulnerability really moved me, and there is something about hearing the female point of view that helps me in ways that my male friends don't bring to the table. Humor is a soft spot for me, and she caught me right off with hers, both of us laughing at these tragic events that come with alcoholism, they aren't really funny, but the insanity of our past is a fact, it's what helps newcomers relate to us, and as the Book says "the dark part is the greatest possession you have - the key to life and happiness for others. With it you can avert death and misery for them." Enjoy Lindsay's story!
