Additionally, due to obsession with ratings, news outlets are more concerned about broadcasting a story first, and many times, would fail to do proper research and broadcast erroneous information. These errors have caused damages to individual lives and reputations. 1) Should these influential individuals and entities be responsible when their errors cause damages? 2) Freedom of speech and freedom of the press are 2 rights of the First Amendment of the US Constitution.
