Honda, Hyundai, and Volkswagen are popular with women. 65th of drivers of Volkswagen Beetle convertibles are women. Three of the top five women's cars are sports cars (but not very expensive sports cars). Women prefer cars that are small (easy to park) and safe. Colour is also very important.

Mercedes, BMW, and Audi are very popular with men. 90% of drivers of the luxurious Mercedes S65 AMG are men (with the top speed 250kph). Big 4x4's are also very popular with men.

In full-year 2022, global sales of the combined car brands of the Volkswagen Group contracted by 7% to 8,262,800 vehicles. Worldwide sales were lower for Volkswagen, Skoda, Seat, and Audi while the more expensive premium brands Bentley, Lamborghini, and Porsche had record sales. China remained the single most important country market for the Volkswagen Group in 2022.
