Kids & Family
Hi and welcome to Episode 13, live from quarantine! I know, I am a little on 100 today because that's what 2 weeks in the house does to you! anyways, this week I jump on this issue concerning stay at home moms and our feelings or our discontentment about being SAHM?. First of all we will respect all women and recognise that being a SAHM is as tough as it is enjoyable. We are blessed and those blessings come with several emotions. This episode Is inspired by an article I read dated 2012 that 'stay at home moms are more depressed, sad and angry'. I must say the article title is deceiving when you do a deep dive on the stats and realise the differences, the number of women interviewed and how they were interviewed and just how different their circumstances are as well as their privileges. There's a lot people can leave out if they share their opinions by phone and not face-to-face! However, I was also a bit grieved because these feelings can rob our joy and make us miss this gift we have. Alas, there is some truth to the information because being a mom is stressful, being a woman even more! Of course we can feel these emotions time and again! But I am glad that we are not doing this alone. We have a God to give us grace to soldier on daily. We have a tribe of women who have done it before without the resources and advancements we have today. So listen in with an open mind and a compassionate heart. I would want to encourage all SAHM that You are exactly where you are suppose to be! Trust this process and rest in this season. It is a season and if you give it a chance, you will be surprised about what you will discover about yourself, your talents, the relationship you have with your kid(s) and your next steps. Just trust God with where you are and lean on his promises. It may look like nothing you pictured your life and yet here you are. You have access to abundant grace and love to raise outstanding children who are loved, safe and secure emotionally and otherwise. There is no need to compare yourself against the standard that the world has kept nor fall prey to the insecurities stirred by social media. Be encouraged by: James 1:5; Titus2:3-5 and 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.
