Today in the studio, Martha is here to talk about breaking through that feeling of shame as an addict. Shame can be used interchangeably with many other words that addicts are feeling. Whatever word you relate with shame, you as an addict think of your actions and yourself as something wrong when you use this word. Bad actions that you did as an addict don’t have the power to define the person that you truly are. We are and always will be our own biggest critics. Do not drown in the shame. Break through it! In this episode Martha speaks about: Finding healthy ways to stop feeling the shame and guilt Surrounding yourself with people that you trust to listen to your feelings Getting all the negative thoughts out of your head The differences between feeling guilt and shame Knowing that whatever the problem, there are others going through the same things Dealing with the biggest insecurities that most women have Showing up and putting your best foot forward to gain momentum Coming together to lift each other up Different ways that we can help others to separate guilt and shame Learning lessons from the past to shape your future Links to Resources: Facebook Group: Step Up in Recovery – A safe place to grow and receive support.
