A cancer diagnosis is bad enough, but experiencing cancer during a pandemic is on a different level. Dr. Bri DeWitt, PT, is a physical therapist from Hawaii who treats patients with orthopedic, pelvic floor, & oncologic impairments. She also is a survivor of triple negative breast cancer, diagnosed smack-dab in the middle of the pandemic. I'm so grateful to Bri for so openly sharing her treatment journey, the impairments & side effects she's still dealing with today, & how she's harnessing her journey to advocate for her patients moving forward. What we cover in this episode: How the pandemic & quarantine affected Bri's cancer treatment (& what this means for our patients) The physical but also psychosocial changes Bri experienced plus what's helped (& some that surprised her) How she's educating & advocating for patients through her own experience & blog What she wants every PT to know about working with people after cancer - from her firsthand experience
