Welcome to another installment of our ongoing series called “Grave Mistakes: They Shoulda Been Huge!!!”. This time we should re-title it, “Should Be Huge!!!” as this is an active and current band featuring members of other much heavier sounding bands. We are talking this week about the side project of the Swedish metal bands Soilwork and Arch Enemy: the amazingly awesome retro-sounding band THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA! Imagine if Foreigner, Toto, and Survivor had a metal love child and you get this awesome band. If you don’t know this band, or if you are only vaguely familiar with them; do yourself a favor and check this out. You may want to put on your workout gear and set up your phone to record a video because you’re going to want to create an awesome montage while listening to this! This episode is rooted in our Should Have Been category. This is a band that has mastered the ability to recreate those fist pumpingly perfect sounds of AOR / Arena Rock gold that originally existed in the late 70s / early 80s. Unfortunately, their brilliance and innovation in reviving this genre have not been recognized on this side of the Atlantic as much as it deserves.
