I’m in love with an inmate. Sebastian, my partner, has been incarcerated since February. I’ve been quite silent about this hardship bc there is a heavy stigma attached to those in + out of the criminal system. I’ve carried a lot of shame + judgement of my own about this strange circumstance I find myself in but I’m sick of my own negativity. With #walkingwounded I strive to share stories of those whose voices aren’t heard. What a better way to flip the script on our federally recorded phone calls than to share what life on the inside is really like + how choosing to commit to a prisoner effects my day to day. In episode one we discuss:⋆ What stigma is attached to you as a convicted felon?⋆ Good vs. Evil in the media⋆ Does the system work? Are you bettering yourself from the inside?⋆ What do you say to the people who say ‘you deserve your punishment since you broke the law’?⋆ Sobriety inside and outside of prison.⋆ In a perfect world with endless funds, what do you think needs to be changed immediately?⋆ The dangers in prison and how available illicit drugs are.⋆ Addiction in prison — those trying to quit, those who become addicts while incarcerated.#oneminuteremaining
