Dalton is the founder of Temper, an intermittent fasting mint. But actually it’s so much more because the mint is a pursuit to combine physical products, cutting edge digital therapeutics, and world class behavior change technologies focused on metabolic fitness. Their mission to enable thriving persists and we are proud to offer Temper as the latest solution to enable human thriving. For the last 15 years their team has studied at the intersection of minds and machines. From our PhDs in neuroscience, humanoid robotics and chemical engineering to our work in artificial intelligence, bio-therapeutics, and even professional sports we have always worked to improve the human condition with one goal in mind, to give humans the tools they need to be the person they have always aspired to be. Starting with a PhD in Neuroeconomics at USC, Dr Combs has spent his career, starting with PhD in Neuroeconomics at USC, researching how people make decisions, and designing technology to help them make better ones. His newest company, Temper, is making metabolic fitness accessible by making it easy to stick to an intermittent fasting plan and to give people more control over the most impactful behaviors in their life - when and what to eat. His previous company focused on improving people's relationships with their phones and was featured in TIME, 20/20, and 60 Minutes. Check out his book Digital Behavioral Design to learn more about how to use technology to shape behavior. I was introduced to Dalton him through one of my co-workers who knows that I’m a bit of a guinea pig for all things health and wellness. And you guys...Dalton is one really...REALLY smart guy. In today’s episode we get the background on Dalton and focus on the neuroscience behind our behaviors and building habits. Next week we’ll talk about intermittent fasting. We go in depth on Dalton’s morning routine and his past experiences with nutrition which have led to an appreciation of wellness and the social aspects of food. The 3 steps that happen in order for us to form and engage in habits The psychology of habits and the association they have with behavior Why most attempts to change habits fail and how to succeed instead And of course an exercise (because this is basically free therapy for me!) on how to fix my midnight eating habit. As you listen, think about habits and behaviors you have? What would you change to make space in your life for something more positive? www.usetemper.com instagram.com/thehaileydaily
