Religion & Spirituality

Hi I am Dheeksha, Art therapist, counsellor, and emotional and spiritual intelligence enthusiast. I am initiating a series of conversations about emotions and spirituality. Emotions101

Why emotions? The world is filled with many, many external stimulators - technology, mobile, TV, alcohol, smoking, fashion, yummy food, travelling, and we continue to buy and buy and buy more and more - Why? One simple reason - emotion - to make oneself happy. Human being have used their intelligence to achieve one main thing - to be happy. But are we happy? We post a picture on Instagram and if many people like it and comment positively, we are happy; if it's the opposite, we are sad. We are excited and happy when someone, especially the one you love, compliments you, while you are heartbroken or sad when the same person ignores you. We are happy when we eat delicious food, while irritated when we do not get food. We feel ecstasy when someone you are with gives a good hug, while disappointed and hurt when pushed away. We feel calm when we feel beautiful, cool breeze, while exhausted and irritated with we feel the sun’s heat during peak summer. In a day, with every action we feel an emotion. We feel around 400 emotions in a day, but how many are we aware of?

When you say your partner does not understand you, what do you mean? He fails to understand your emotions. That's when you say, they are no different from a robot - do a mechanical job- that is duty or responsibility, but fail to understand what one feels/emotions.

The difference between human beings and robots/AI is emotions. I would say emotions are the very essence of being human. And hence this series on emotions, which I feel I important in this world filled with so much chaos and suffering, a world where we do not understand each other.

Join me in this journey to explore emotions - our emotions and others' emotions, through the awareness of emotions, let's begin to understand each other. Ready to be part of the self-exploration journey? Thanks for listening, and this is my first talk in the series of Emotions101. See you soon in the next conversation.
