According to Emmanuel Katto, despite having an abundance of minerals, including gold, diamonds, copper, iron ore, steel, and others, and a climate that is ideal for growing coffee, Africa remains one of the world's poorest continents, with nearly one in two residents living below the poverty line in the sub-Saharan states.
