Shruti Gunjan presents Ek Chatur Naar the iconic song from the film Padosan. The song is probably one of the most loved comedies of all times. But behind the fun and laughter, is one of Pancham’s most chatur creations. Though the underlying situation is very comical, the composition is drenched in Indian Classical music, both Hindustani and Carnatic. The change in the rhythm pattern to highlight the Carnatic and Hindustani moods has been done very aesthetically. There are glimpses of several raags in the tune eg. The Mukhada has Raag Jhinjhoti while the Antara has a flavour of Raag Malhar. Presence of Raag Khamaj and Tilang are also evident in the song. In this instrumental rendition of the song we have focussed on the classical music and not the comical aspect of the song. Chandrashekharji has played both the parts of Manna Dey (Mahmud) and Kishor Kumar on two different Sitars. The rhythm part is well supported by Shri. Sujit Panchal on the Tabla and Shri. Devendra Toraskar on the side rhythms. Videography is by Viral Shah and Direction by Dr. Sujata Bhat
