Disabled Girls Who Lift

Miscellaneous

In this episode, we brought to the table Val Schull (@buff.zaddy.schullk) and Kresenda Keith (@eds_athlete) to discuss the performative changes of USAPL’s new powerlifting categories (Mx, Adaptive, Para Bench, Raw with Wraps) and what true inclusion in sports for disabled, nonbinary, and trans athletes should look like. On many occasions, members of the disability and the TGNCNB community tried working with the presidents of USAPL and IPF but were faced with shame and rejection. Instead of giving them your money, please refer to this list of TGNCNB powerlifting federations: https://barbend.com/transgender-friendly-powerlifting-federations/ And check out our resource page for additional adaptive fitness resources: https://www.disabledgirlswholift.com/resources Hosts for this episode: Marcia Darbouze (@thatdoc.marcia), Marybeth Baluyot (@merrbertt) A message from DGWL: We do our very best to ensure we are inclusive to all members of the community. Not very many podcasts consider the deaf and hard-of-hearing population, but we applaud those who do and challenge those who don’t. That said, we are looking for volunteers to help us transcribe future episodes--there are transcriptions available online for our current episodes--but we still need help! Please send us a message on our website--www.disabledgirlswholift.com--if you have transcribing experience and are interested in joining the crew! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/disabled-girls-who-lift/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/disabled-girls-who-lift/support
