miss anything?  Here is my transcript! Compression (Smaller Hi-Fi) .DOCX files can be much smaller in size and open faster on computer In the past with .DOC, a large number of embedded images caused the file to swell in size quickly leading to taking up a lot of disk space.  These files end up taking a lot of time to transmit over the internet and a large amount of files were too large for a simple task as in sending an email.  This problem is reduced with .DOCX, because this format uses a system of compression to store information.  As a result, the .docx file makes short work for large documents cutting down the size up to half.  Since the file size is smaller, it is quicker to send emails or open in Word faster saving time. Images embedded in .docx work better and have a more exactness when compressed With .DOC files, information is stored by breaking embedded images and fonts down to binary code and storing it with text and formatting all in a single large and complex file.  A negative effect of creating a standard procedure to manage file size is that there is a side effect of compressing images down to sample the image quality in the same process.  Sharp images end up looking pixelated or off-color in the end.  .DOCX is better for the structure organizes in a way for embedded objects including photos and fonts to be stored in different folders and files.  This type of compression is more advanced not taking away a photo’s quality.  Using a .ZIP extension, you can even rename the file and see them in neat, small folders. Reliable & Secure .DOCX is less sensitive to file corruption when passed around File corruption can happen in .DOC format files resulting in misaligned margins, header, pagination and page numbers.  This corruption leads to needing special recovery programs when people don’t have a backup.  Meanwhile, .DOCX has a different way to deal with pagination using simplified XML coding language instead of binary.  This means it is a lot less likely to corrupt when it passes hands. .DOCX is hardened against macro viruses, which is good for people who share documents With .DOC documents, users were allowed to embed macros to make repetitive tasks such as  applying styles or copying and pasting.  While this might sound useful, malicious program writers took advantage of this feature to embed macro-viruses that can cause huge problems with a system reading in an infected file.  With .DOCX, Microsoft split this function out and replaced it with DOCM to give the same function that is more secure about your file. Future Proof .DOCX is portable to many web-based applications including eReader platforms. This makes it future proof The .DOCX format is built around XML which is used in a lot of web applications today.  This uses CSS for formatting like with eBooks with better accuracy.  With the eBook technology using these applications, .DOCX documents have a great fidelity.  Today when you see Word documents, eBooks in the future will be just as polished.  To conclude, .DOCX allows moving documents to eBook platforms easier and is a better choice for writing in the future.
