Cofer, affectionately called Mama C by many is a mother, grandmother and woman who wears many hats. She is the author of five self-published books and founder of SISTAH CHAT RADIO, LLC. She is a community advocate, womens empowerment specialist, designer of wellness programs for women, emotional fitness trainer, member of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) and the National Association For the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), a mentor to women of all ages around the country and role model to many. Most recently she created EMBRACE THE VOW, a life-skills and enhancement program designed to inspire and encourage women to gain control of their emotions so they are able to live happy and fulfilled lives. Prior to relocating to East Stroudsburg, PA in 2006, she was Director of the Womens Health Education and Resource Network at North General Hospital in New York City, a program she designed, developed and delivered to the Harlem community, where she received numerous awards and recognition for her work, including the Susan B. Anthony Award from City Hall. She has been featured in numerous newspapers and magazines. Most recently she has been the recipient of the Pocono Film Festivals Advocate For a Better America Award, the Monroe County Image Awards Community Advocacy Award, The African-American Networks Woman of Distinction Award for Sistah Chat and the Monroe County Image Awards Media Excellence Award for Sistah Chat. Deborah Cofer has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Health from St. Joseph College in Brooklyn, New York and currently resides in East Stroudsburg, PA.
