Jordan Vollrath is a recently graduated family physician. He did his medical school at the University of Alberta before completing his residency at the University of Calgary in 2019. He worked exclusively as a locum engaging in a wide variety of practices including both rural and urban before co-founding Cherry Health in 2020. Cherry Health: Founded in 2020 to fill the obvious gap with how physicians find locums - rather than the traditional web-based locum portals which have proved ineffective year after year, we decided to move to a mobile app based platform. This makes it more portable, flexible and with significantly better engagement. We also saw a huge problem in the traditional business model which charges a fee for finding locum placements so we designed Cherry to be free for users which has lead to a rapid uptake and larger audience meaning the whole system just works better.
