ದಾರಿ - THE WAY | The Journey From ಲಾರಿ to ಲಕ್ಸುರಿ With ಸುಧೀಂದ್ರ ಚಡಗ Sudheendra Chadaga

Education

In the debut episode of the "ದಾರಿ - THE WAY" podcast, Sudheendra Chadaga shares his extraordinary life story, demonstrating how curiosity, professional humility, and continuous self-improvement can transform a career. Raised in the village of Pandeshwara near Udupi, Sudheendra began working at just ten years old as a milk and paper delivery boy and bookstore assistant. After high school, he spent five years working in a warehouse, physically loading and unloading gunny bags from transport trucks (lorries) for a lottery company, while pursuing his B.Com degree in the Kannada medium during the evenings.

Driven by an intense curiosity about technology, he completed computer hardware and software diplomas in Manipal, topping his class. In 2000, he migrated to Bangalore during the IT boom, starting in a small computer repair shop for just ₹600 a month. Through determination, he transitioned to server configuration, network engineering, and eventually high-level project management for global brands like Siemens.

Sudheendra shares several key lessons for young professionals:

  • Embrace Humility: He compares career progression to climbing a mountain, noting that one must bend (remain humble and shed their ego) to ascend and handle professional pressure.
  • Balance Profession and Passion: He encourages keeping hobbies active to maintain mental peace. His own love for literature led him to complete an M.A. in Kannada alongside his technical master's degree (M.Sc. in IT).
  • Develop Interpersonal & Networking Skills: Interpersonal networking acts as a vital safety cushion during career progression.
  • Redefining Management: He explains that a manager is a facilitator of talent who ensures their team feels safe, rather than an authoritarian supervisor, noting that "people don't quit companies, they quit their managers".
  • Opportunities Outside Metros: He highlights that students in Tier-2 cities (like Udupi, Hubli, and Dharwad) no longer need to struggle in expensive metros for opportunities, as major companies now recruit directly from these regions and learning materials are widely available online.
  • Actionable Resume Tips: He advises job seekers to showcase voluntary community service (like NSS or NCC) to prove they can collaborate and influence teams without relying on formal authority. He also encourages overcoming English communication barriers through consistent peer practice and utilizing modern AI tools
