Education

In this episode, we share the remarks delivered by Dang Phan, Class of 1979, at the naturalization ceremony that was held here on campus on October 22 and that was officiated by the honorable Alfred Covello, Class of 1950. Forty-nine new citizens were naturalized in the Olcott Center before a crowd of their friends and family alongside the entire Loomis Chaffee community. Dang arrived at Loomis with his family in the fall of 1974 after fleeing Vietnam as political refugees and after being rescued by the U.S. Navy in the Pacific. He was invited to participate in the ceremony as keynote speaker. He is introduced by Associate Head Nat Follansbee, his former English teacher.
