- According to the latest update, India has evacuated its 530 people from Sudan. Under the mission named 'Operation Kaveri ', evacuated Indians have been taken to the transit facility at Jeddah. After the first batch of 278 was evacuated using Indian Navy's INS Sumedha, Indian Air Force's C130J heavy-lift transport aircraft evacuated more Indians.
- The Uttar Pradesh government suspended a serving government doctor - Akhlaq Ahmed who is the brother-in-law of slain gangster Atiq Ahmed. He was accused of sheltering Atiq's gang-member Guddu Muslim who is on the run and is wanted by the Prayagraj police for the killing of lawyer Umesh Pal and his two police guards.
- Singapore on Wednesday executed a man convicted of drug trafficking in 2013. The man was accused of abetting the trafficking of more than 1 kg (2.2 pounds) of cannabis. Many had called for Singapore not to proceed with the execution but Singapore executed 11 people in 2022 and considers the death penalty as a deterrent against drugs.
- The Taliban killed the "mastermind" of a suicide attack at Kabul's international airport that killed 13 U.S. troops and many civilians during the United States exit from the country in 2021.
- Russia seized control of two European energy companies - Fortum and Uniper after Putin declared taking temporary control of their Russian assets. This came in anticipation of a possible ban on exports to Russia or applying tougher sanctions on it by the EU and its allies. Seizing control means that the original owner no longer has the right to make management decisions.
- US President Joe Biden announced that he will be running for a second term in office, joined by Vice President Kamala Harris as his running mate. Biden will possibly face Donal Trump in the 2024 presidential elections. After the announcement, Biden got support from former two-time presidential candidate, Senator Bernie Sanders.
