Communicating with others can be so frustrating some days. You try to say what you mean, you think about the words that feel right ... and then the other person doesn't get it. Maybe they get mad at you; maybe they misunderstand. It happens to everyone.The listening process involves: receiving, understanding, evaluating, remembering, and responding. Active listening is a particular communication technique that requires the listener to provide feedback on what (s)he hears and feels to the speaker.Active listening builds strong relationships and, while it may not come naturally to many of us, it's an invaluable communication skill.
