We're back in an apocalyptic world this week with the 2006 film Children of Men, based on the novel of the same name by P. D. James and directed by four-time Academy Award winner Alfonso Cuarón. The film takes place in 2027, after two decades of human infertility has left society on the brink of collapse, and stars Clive Owen as a cynical bureaucrat tasked with transporting a young pregnant woman across the border, and away from the militant groups who want to use her and her unborn child for their own political gain. The film also stars Michael Caine, Julianne Moore, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Charlie Hunnam.
