Was his near-unanimous selection expected, and can he duplicate his 2021 performance next year (considering he stays with Toronto)? Vlad Jr. and Marcus Semien boasted incredible performances in 2021. Performances that in any other year would have earned them MVP and runner-up honors, respectively; however, their breakout play coincided with Shohei Ohtani's showstopping, once-in-a-century unanimous MVP run.
