It's another example of the excesses of the Britpop late-90s resulting in a mess of a film. Not even the acting powers of Anna Friel, Joanna Lumley, Greg Wise, and many others, adapted from a hit novel that came to embody the "chick lit" era until Bridget Jones turned up, could salvage this tripe.
