Bones Magazine presents a series of six sets from Filth Fm, An experimental pirate radio station from the city of Leeds in the UK. Filth Fm was set up by Toiletboy and Eloise G as a way for them to try out new ideas on a defunct medium. They took their inspiration from Polish radio from the 1930’s and concentrated on creating a platform that allowed them and the people they worked with to push radio forward. They ended up working with people all around the world, letting them create shows and implement ideas that challenged tradional radio. Filth Fm was run from a few housing estates in Leeds but its mission was global, being pirate afforded them the luxury of not being bound by broadcasting laws. They would broadcast kids show and open university lecture and generally plunder the wealth of content available to them in 2003. Shows were sent to them via the post and they would broadcast them over the week creating a new kind of pirate radio. A lot of strange sounds would land in their post box and Bones Magazine is very happy to present them to you. There will be a feature on Filth Fm and it creators in the next issue of Bones Magazine. Expect some seriously interesting insights into the world of pirate radio and the fucked up things that happend at Filth Fm like their transmitter burning party & their international post-graffiti gallery. We’ll be podcasting one show per week. Enjoy. Originally transmitted January 2003.
