Mani Amar is an award winning filmmaker and activist whose films have focused on the impact of gangs and drugs on the city of Vancouver. In this episode we discuss the Indo-Canadian gang problem that has plagued the lower mainland for over three decades. We discuss the rise and fall of the infamous Vancouver gangster Bindy Johal and other various gangs that have devastated families. We touch on the impact of the Sikh religion, the 1984 Air India bombing and the flow of drugs from south to north. We explore the struggle for the identity of a community that contributes so much to Canada but cannot seem to evolve from its roots of war and tragedy.
