Are You Like, Holy? Podcast

Religion & Spirituality

Set to our theme song: "Decent" by our friend Para Doc. (Warm up) An Open Letter to a Catholic: Dear Catholic, Baptism makes us one in the Lord and we are fused together in our great faith, yet this mess of a world leaves so many people feeling divergent, failing and alone. While so many turn to empty encouragements, we can’t deny that, for us, it falls flat. Spoiler alert: we’re not that great and we’re not interested in telling you that you are. But we do want to tell you that: God is. In a nutshell: we want to unite people in the hope of the Lord and bring back the awe and wonder that comes with being, not perfect, but His.We are not interested in how pretty you are, how popular you seem, how together you might have it, or how cooly you maneuver through this world. If the Statue or Liberty asks for your “tired, poor, and huddled masses”, we’ll take your “tired of faking it, poor in spirit, and late-to-Mass-es.” Have you fallen asleep in Adoration with only your messy bun as a pew pillow? Are you starting to see through the filters and recognize a desperation in our desire to present a perfect image?         Both: You’re our kind of people. In a world full of perfectly arranged spiritual bouquets, we are the tangled patch of wildflowers that reach for the Son.. of God. Here, we revel not in our ability to score goals in pursuit of holiness, but in God’s merciful and steadfast patience through all our fumbles. Here the palette of our brand may not always match. Beauty will be found in the authentic experience of faith not in a simulation of holiness. And we can hold each other accountable for that.  While we are glad to have you join us in this fun little project, our aim is not your approval and you don’t need ours. We want His approval for us ALL  and we will share our tips for the journey mid-hike, not post-trek. It will be messy. and honest. and not always proper. But we value the imperfection of a real-time telling over the sugary ease of a hind-sighted story. So if the question is, “Are you like, Holy?” we’d say: sometimes, no, yes, maybe, most definitely, we try to be. And we’d like to keep trying…. with you.Your Sisters in Christ,     caitie and kristin
