This month's awareness origins are rooted in a Day of Unity to connect battered women's advocates across the country. Domestic Violence is a spectrum and can present across all different forms of abuse. It affects men, women, and children of every race, religion, culture, age, and status. The Family Advocacy Center has assisted 118 victims since January 2021. On average, Navajo County Victims Service's provides services to 318 Domestic Violence Victims every year. We, the survivors, want to take a stand against abuse in all its forms. We invite you to stand with us. It's time to raise community awareness against abuse and show support for those affected. For Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we are holding a #Walk/Run Away from Abuse 5K event on October 23rd, 2021. Registration opens at 8 am, with the run starting at 9 am and the finish line at The House for the Stand Against Abuse Luncheon. If you have ever suffered from, have a loved one who has lived through, or still living through or lost someone you loved to abuse, please stand with us to bring awareness and support! We are looking forward to an incredible event and would love for you to join us! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/walkrun-away-from-abuse-5k-tickets-173013226217 All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Navajo County Victim Services Department, Family Advocacy Center, and the RE:center for their Crisis Funds to help victims of abuse in Navajo County.
