Education
On this episode, Lauren is joined by Meg Normann, and the two cover a range of topics, starting generally with Meg's story, which includes student loans, credit cards, and getting out of debt. Then, they transition to real estate: long-term rentals, short-term rentals, recasting a mortgage, and geo-arbitrage. They also discuss diversifying with different kinds of real estate and stocks. Meg Nordmann, the author of “Have Yourself a Minimalist Christmas” and host of the newly launched "Journey to Freedom" podcast, which explores a wide variety of ways to achieve a more free life--such as minimalism, time hacking and financial freedom. Meg is the mother of two messy but wonderful little girls who were her catalyst for seeking an intentional and minimalist life. Meg and her husband set an ambitious goal to achieve financial independence and retire early (“FIRE”) and recently achieved this in just 6 years. Between navigating the clutter that comes with parenthood and their goal to retire early, frugality and sustainability have become guiding principles in their everyday life. A former journalist, editor and digital marketer, Meg is now a full-time mother who writes, blogs, and speaks about minimalism and frugalism—philosophies that have afforded her family the luxury of time and freedom to explore the things that matter the most to them.
