Statement of Need For pediatricians to be able to provide quality care with optimal patient outcomes, it is important that they provide inclusive care to all patients. This also includes an understanding of how to create an inclusive environment for the LGBTQ patient as well as recognizing the health disparities that are unique to the LGBTQ patient. Objectives At the conclusion of this offering, the participant will be able to: Define key terms; including gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation Discuss the characteristics of an inclusive office environment Review the American Academy of Pediatrics approach of the Gender Affirming Care Model Describe the clinical and psychological comorbidities that LBGTQ youth are at higher risk for.
