A SAFE CHURCH. STRIVES TO KEEP THE MEMBERS HAPPY. AVOIDS CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES. REMAINS CAUTIOUS.Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit...’ With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, ‘Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.’ Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day. Acts 2:38-41RiverTown Church is a safe place with a dangerous mission.RiverTown’s Mission: To transform lives into the likeness of Jesus Christ.RiverTown’s Life Transformation strategy-path-journey: God Matters… when my schedule and lifestyle reflect that God is my top priority. People Matter… when I admit that I need regular fellowship to grow spiritually. You Matter… when I volunteer to show and share God’s message of love. What Makes A Church Dangerous?1) AN UNCIVILIZED APPROACH.In those days John the Baptist came, preaching… ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near…’ John's clothes were made of camel's hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. People went out to him…Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. Matthew 3:1-6Jesus entered the temple area and drove out all who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and… said to them, 'My house will be called a house of prayer,' but you are making it a den of robbers.' Matthew 21:12-13When was the last time you had an uncivilized experience with God?2) A DIVINE BOLDNESS.Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus. Acts 4:29-30After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. Acts 4:31-35When was the last time you took a bold stand for Christ?3) A RISK-TAKING FAITHAnd without faith it is impossible to please God… Hebrews 11:6For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. Matthew 16:25 When was the last time you took a faith-risk?RiverTown’s End-Vision of Community Transformation:Revealing God’s love and transforming power to the whole metro region.Inviting our friends, neighbors and families to experience real faith for real life.Valuing the contribution of every person.Engaging the needs of others while expecting nothing in return.Reproducing disciples through an intentional life transformation process.Together, building a base of ministry with the needs of the community in mind.Overcoming obstacles to reveal the powerful potential God has placed in our lives.
