The Subcontinental is a South Asian Voices (SAV) podcast on strategic issues in South Asia. SAV is an online policy platform featuring emerging South Asian analysts. It aims to foster free-flowing, critical debate on South Asia’s security, economic, and political issues with a special focus on nuclear issues. This episode of the The Subcontinental podcast features guest Dr. Manoj Joshi. Joshi had a three-decade career in journalism with stints at The Times of India, The Hindustan Times, India Today, Mail Today, The Financial Express, and The Hindu. He was most recently a member of the Task Force on National Security chaired by Naresh Chandra to propose reforms in the security apparatus of the country and previously served on the National Security Advisory Board. Joshi is a graduate from St Stephen’s College, Delhi University and a PhD from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University. He is one of the preeminent strategic thinkers and the author of two books on Kashmir. Joshi joins Host Dr. Sameer Lalwani on the podcast to discuss current events in South Asia including: implications of the U.S. elections for the subcontinent, tension in South Asia after the Uri attack, the role of China in the region, and the tense situation in Kashmir.
