On the 7th of January 1979 – Pol Pot is overthrown, Bringing to an end the brutal regime of Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge. Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge was trying to take Cambodia back to the Middle ages by forcing millions of people from the cities to work on communal farms in the countryside.
